Current Sensing Relay vs ⚡ Current Sensor
Here’s a quick comparison 👇
🔴 Current Sensing Relay (CSR)
a. Function: Detects current flow and provides ON/OFF relay output
b. Output: Digital status (contact closes/opens)
c. Use Case: Fan/ Pump status proof without a pressure switch
d. Advantage: Simple, no controller needed, easy wiring
e. Limitation: No actual current measurement
🔴 Current Sensor (Transducer)
a. Function: Measures actual current flowing in the conductor
b. Output: Analog signal (0–5V / 4–20mA) or Digital (BACnet/Modbus)
c. Use Case: Energy monitoring, motor load profiling, VFD load measurement
d. Advantage: Accurate, continuous, real-time data for dashboards
e. Limitation: Needs controller/DDC to process data
