7-Steps Important In Damper Actuator Torque Calculation

To size a damper actuator, first measure the duct's width and height to calculate its area. Based on the type of damper—either parallel blade or opposed blade—use the corresponding holding torque per unit area. Multiply the duct area by this holding torque to determine the actual torque required to operate the damper. Then, apply a safety factor of 1.25 to the actual torque to ensure reliable and efficient actuator performance. The final result is the required torque needed for proper damper actuator sizing.

1. Duct width
2. Duct height
3. Calculate the area of duct
4. Holding Torque of parallel Blade Dampers
5. Holding Torque of Opposed Blade Dampers
6. Multiply area with holding Torque as per dampers blade type to get actual torque
7. Consider Safety facotr "1.25" with actual torque to get required torque for "damper Actuator Sizing"
